The Rotary club of Yarraville hosted the third consecutive Acknowledgement Day event on Jan 26, 2024.

The day began with a sunrise ceremony with indigenous performer Paul Kelly on Yidaki and Veronica Hall on violin.

We are all part of the story; lets change the conversation around January 26.
We acknowledge and honour the rich tapestry of cultures, traditions, and perspectives that make us who we are.

Acknowledgment Day is more than a mere date on the calendar; it's an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate the diversity that defines our Australian community and celebrate the unique blend of First Nations and European influences.

As the sun rises, symbolizing the start of a new day, let us also acknowledge the dawn of a new understanding. This day marks the beginning of a fresh dialogue, one that emphasizes the importance of unity in diversity.

Williamstown MP Melissa Horne was in attendance, and the public enjoyed music performers Nina Ferro, Gone Westerly and Aboubacar, and free coffee, bacon & egg rolls for breakfast and lamingtons & scones for morning tea.
